Setup and demo
How do I complete setup with real data?
New real-data setup requires the safety and privacy/terms acknowledgements, separate health-data consent and verified access through a subscription or eligible trial. On long pages, Continue first scrolls to the next part. Scrolling does not acknowledge anything: select the confirmation control and tap Continue at the bottom to record your choice. Purchasing does not acknowledge a notice. Back remains in the fixed footer outside active operations, and your setup progress is remembered when you close the app.
Purchase, Connect, pen scan and Health export/permission are separate actions; Continue does not start them. You can continue past optional CGM, pen, Apple Health and reminder steps without configuring them. Continuing does not save partially entered CGM credentials or start NFC. Configure these features later in Settings.
Returning users can choose View saved data where offered, after any required safety and privacy/terms acknowledgements. This keeps retained history without switching to demo, granting new consent or unlocking new CGM fetching or pen scans. Saved-data viewing, CSV export, supported manual corrections and deletion under the existing restrictions remain available without a subscription.
Can I try GlucoLumi without an account or a pen?
Yes. Demo mode needs no CGM account, subscription, physical pen or health-data consent. On the health-data consent or subscription page, choose the separate Try demo mode card and confirm Start demo. This starts a demo session without completing consent or purchase. You can also find demo mode near the bottom of Settings and try a simulated pen scan.
Demo data are labelled, kept separate from real data and never written to Apple Health. Simulated pen scans supply six synthetic records and deduplicate repeated scans. Demo pen history is temporary and disappears when the app restarts or you exit demo; it never replaces real pen history. The simulation does not test real NFC, provider sign-in, Health writes or subscription purchases. Use demo data or redacted screenshots when contacting support.
How do I exit demo and return to setup?
Choose Exit demo in the visible demo bar or in Settings. Demo does not complete first setup: entering it from setup or Review setup pauses that flow at its exact consent or subscription step. Exit demo returns to the same step, even after restarting the app or iPhone. If you started demo from ordinary Settings, exiting returns to Settings. Demo continues after a restart until you choose Exit demo. Any required acknowledgement updates still apply when you return.
Settings changed in demo return to their pre-demo values when you exit successfully. If exit fails, demo and its saved return information remain available so you can try again. Exit demo before connecting or changing a real CGM source, changing health-data consent, purchasing, restoring or managing a subscription, setting up reminders or requesting real Health or notification permissions. Resetting/deleting real app data and deleting real diagnostics are also unavailable during demo. Legal notices remain readable.
How do I repeat setup or make the interface easier to read?
Open Settings β Help & About β Review setup for the full introduction without deleting your data. This has its own remembered progress and can resume later. Automatic notice updates are different: they show only required outdated safety, privacy/terms or health-data consent notices, not the purchase and optional configuration steps.
Safety information, privacy/terms and health-data consent are under Settings β Privacy and safety β Your acknowledgements. Each page shows a summary, status, current version, your acknowledged version and date, and the full information. Versions remain safety 3, policy 2026-10-01 and health-data consent 2026-10-01.1. Safety or privacy/terms acknowledgements do not give health-data consent. Full legal information and links remain under Settings β Privacy and safety β About data and safety.
GlucoLumi supports larger system text and VoiceOver. Adjust these in iPhone Accessibility settings. If a control is difficult to read or use, tell support which screen, app version and accessibility settings you use; do not send credentials or unnecessary health data.
Which devices and languages are supported?
GlucoLumi requires iOS 18 or later. The Apple Watch app and complication require watchOS 10 or later. The app, widgets, Live Activity, Apple Watch app and complications are localized in Norwegian BokmΓ₯l, English, Danish, Swedish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Japanese, with mmol/L and mg/dL display options. The app is designed for iPhone and a paired Apple Watch, and is not offered as a Mac app.
Connections and readings
Which CGM sources are supported?
GlucoLumi connects to LibreLinkUp and Nightscout. LibreLinkUp requires an account with an active follower connection and lets you choose between available follower connections. Nightscout requires your own HTTPS site and, for protected sites, a read-only token.
Which LibreLinkUp region should I choose?
New connections use Automatic. GlucoLumi starts at the EU login server and follows Abbott's account-region redirect to a known LibreLinkUp server. To choose a different starting region, open Settings β CGM sources β LibreLinkUp β Edit login β Advanced. The account page shows the server used by the latest successful fetch. A manual choice does not move your account, and regional routing is not a guarantee that every account or country is supported.
Why is the latest reading delayed?
iOS decides when apps may refresh in the background and does not guarantee five-minute updates. Open the app and tap Sync now for an immediate attempt. Check the source status, internet connection and measurement time. Continue to use your CGM manufacturer's app for timely alerts.
Where can I see my glucose?
Overview shows the latest value and trend, with graph choices for 1 hour, 3 hours, 12 hours and a selected day. Longer periods are available for CSV export, not as overview graph choices. The app also includes Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, a Live Activity with Dynamic Island support, an Apple Watch app and complication, and a Shortcuts action for the latest reading. GlucoLumi is designed for iPhone and a paired Apple Watch; it is not offered as a Mac app.
Does GlucoLumi send glucose alerts?
No. GlucoLumi does not generate its own low/high, rapid-change or missing-reading alerts. Earlier app-generated glucose notifications are removed when you upgrade. Reading timestamps, stale-data indicators and technical sync errors are still shown. Use your CGM manufacturer's official alarms.
How do optional reminders work?
Open Settings β Tools β Reminders. Reminders are off by default and require notification permission. A pen reminder requires real configured pens and skips the day if all have been read. An app-opening reminder requires a real CGM source and can remind you after 6, 8, 12 or 24 hours away from the app.
Reminders pause in demo mode or without active health-data consent. Tapping a pen reminder, or using Shortcuts, opens the normal scanner with the same subscription, consent and hardware requirements. Reminders do not assess glucose or recommend insulin. Delivery and a complete CGM history are not guaranteed; continue using the manufacturer's official alarms.
Pen records and Apple Health
How do I read records from an insulin pen?
Open the pen scanner from the overview, Settings β Insulin pens or Shortcuts, then hold a compatible pen near the iPhone's NFC reader. The reader is designed for NovoPen 6 and NovoPen Echo Plus; a successful scan depends on compatible hardware and readable pen records. For a new pen, enter its display name, insulin label and basal/bolus category. These labels are your choices and are not identified automatically.
A record shows an actuated dose and may include priming; it does not confirm an injection. Check records before choosing to export them to Apple Health. The Export automatically to Apple Health switch is off by default and is set per pen. GlucoLumi is independent of Novo Nordisk and does not claim manufacturer endorsement.
How does Apple Health sync work?
Export to Apple Health is optional and its system permission is separate from health-data consent. Use an explicit export/permission action; Continue in setup does not request permission. If you decline or cancel, you can continue setup and recover requested access or export later from Overview. CGM fetching and pen use within GlucoLumi do not require Health permission. Manage permissions and exported records in Apple's Health app.
Glucose sync requests write access only and uses stable source identifiers and sync versions to merge repeated or corrected writes; it does not read your glucose history from Health. Insulin records have a separate write-only permission flow. Automatic export to Apple Health is off for new pens. Enable the Export automatically to Apple Health switch separately for each pen. Confirm the airshot threshold, including an intentional 0 U, before the first real pen export to Health. A subscription is needed for new CGM fetching and pen scans, not for writing already saved records to Health. Active health-data consent and Health permissions are required for new writes. Demo data are never written to Health.
How does the Airshot threshold work?
Open Settings β Insulin pens β Airshot threshold. This is one shared setting for automatic marking. The default 0 U switches automatic marking off. Confirm the threshold, including an intentional 0 U, before your first real pen export to Apple Health.
With current health-data consent, records strictly below the threshold are marked as airshots; a record equal to the threshold is not automatically marked. This applies both to new scans and retained records. Airshots remain in pen history and full CSV exports, but are excluded from the insulin overview and Apple Health exports. Changing the threshold updates automatic markings and keeps manual markings. You cannot individually override an automatic marking while the record remains below the threshold.
If an affected record was already exported, GlucoLumi queues removal of its own matching Health sample. Removal can fail or need a retry; the app does not remove other apps' samples. Lowering the threshold does not cancel pending removal. Let removal finish before a later permitted export; changing the threshold does not immediately export the record again. The original pen record is not erased locally. Without current consent, automatic marking changes and removals are paused, including old queues; existing markings and history remain.
This is a user-chosen amount rule, not verified detection of priming or an injection. It can also exclude genuine small injections. Check your records carefully. The Export automatically to Apple Health switch is off for new pens and must be enabled separately for each pen.
How do I correct an airshot marking?
Open Settings β History and export β Pen history and export and use the individual record's airshot action. Manual markings remain when the threshold changes. A record automatically marked because it is below the threshold cannot be individually overridden; review the shared threshold instead. Airshots stay in history and full CSV exports, but not in the insulin overview or Health export.
For an already exported record, the app attempts to remove only its own matching Health sample. If removal is pending, unlock the phone and review Health permissions. An explicit manual Try again processes only the selected record; it does not process other queued records or resume automatic work. Explicit manual corrections remain available when consent is missing, outdated or withdrawn, but new Health exports require current consent. Undoing a manual marking or lowering the threshold does not cancel pending removal. Removal must finish before any later permitted export; the record is not immediately written back.
Supported corrections and writing saved records to Health do not require a subscription; new Health writes require active health-data consent and permission. A pending Health correction must finish before individual local deletion. Full reset can erase pending work and is not a method for removing Health samples. There is no unrestricted editing of historical doses, times or categories, and changing a pen profile does not automatically change earlier records' categories.
Consent, export and deletion
What happens if I do not give the current health-data consent?
Open Settings β Privacy and safety β Your acknowledgements β Health data consent to review health-data consent or withdraw it. To give new consent in Settings, select the confirmation control and tap Continue. The current consent notice is 2026-10-01.1; it also describes optional local reminders. The website policy reference remains 2026-10-01.
If health-data consent is missing, withdrawn or for an older notice version, new fetching, new Health exports and automatic airshot changes and removals are paused. This includes work in existing queues. Existing markings and history are retained. System operations already started may finish.
Returning users can choose View saved data where offered, without switching to demo or giving new consent. Viewing saved data, CSV export, deletion subject to the existing restrictions and explicit manual corrections remain available. A manual Try again processes only the selected record, not other queued records, and does not resume automatic processing. New Health exports still require current consent and the required Health permission.
Withdrawal also ends Live Activities and requests a Watch reset; an offline Watch may update later. Credentials and pending records are not automatically deleted. Withdrawal does not cancel your subscription. To resume automatic processing, give the current consent explicitly and separately re-enable Health sync.
How do I export my history?
Open Settings β History and export β Export glucose readings, select a period and save the CSV file. Glucose export covers the selected period and active dataset, not all sources at once. CSV export also offers longer periods, including 7, 14, 30 and 90 days or 1 year; these are export choices, not overview graph choices. Select an older CGM dataset again to view or export it.
Under Settings β History and export β Pen history and export, choose Export full pen history. This exports all retained pen records from all stored pens, regardless of the date filter, including airshots and Apple Health export status. Deleted records cannot be recovered. Export remains available without a subscription.
CSV files contain health information. Save and share them carefully. They cannot be imported back into GlucoLumi for recovery. Clinical analysis such as GMI, time in range and glucose variability is not included in the app version described here.
Does history sync between my devices?
No. Glucose history is stored locally on the iPhone and is not synced through iCloud. For LibreLinkUp and Nightscout, widgets can use configuration and credentials shared securely through the app group to fetch a fresh reading directly; they can also fall back to the latest local snapshot. The paired Apple Watch receives snapshot data from the iPhone. These surfaces do not receive the complete history. The app asks the system to exclude its own persistent data and Watch copies from new iCloud and computer backups. Previous backups are not erased. Do not rely on a device backup to restore GlucoLumi history; see the backup question on this page.
Can I restore my data from a backup?
Do not rely on system backup to restore GlucoLumi data. GlucoLumi asks the system to exclude the app database, pen files, local recovery files, settings and app-owned Watch copies from new iCloud and computer backups. This is an instruction to the system, not a guarantee about every system-managed copy. Earlier backups are not deleted. CSV exports cannot be imported back into the app.
To manage app backup, open iPhone Settings β your name β iCloud β Storage / Manage Account Storage β Backups β your device. If GlucoLumi appears, turn it off and confirm. This removes its corresponding backup information, not the current local history. Menu names vary. See Appleβs backup controls.
Apple Health, Keychain and exports are separate. Health has its own iCloud sync switch; turning it off is not the same as deleting already synced data. Saving a CSV to iCloud Drive creates a copy outside the app. Encrypting a computer backup does not override the appβs exclusion. See Health data controls and encrypted computer backups. Check the phoneβs storage settings for any backup-exclusion warning.
How do I disconnect a source or delete app data?
Open Settings β CGM sources, choose the source and disconnect it to remove its saved login or token. Local history and Apple Health samples remain. Forgetting a pen removes its profile but keeps records; deleting a record locally does not remove its Health sample.
Open Settings β History and export β Local storage β Delete all app data and reset to remove local glucose history, pen profiles and records, credentials, settings, snapshots, Live Activity and diagnostics. Apple Health samples, system permissions, provider data and exported files are managed separately. Resetting or uninstalling does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage the subscription through Apple. Export and deletion remain available without active subscription access.
Complete pending Health corrections before resetting. Full reset also removes health-data consent and pending work, but not old backups. An offline Watch can retain its snapshot until the reset reaches it. If clearing a widget request or deleting pen history fails, Settings remains open with an error so you can retry. Already deleted data are not rolled back: do not treat a failed reset as if nothing changed.
How can I keep readings private on shared screens?
Widgets, Live Activities, Dynamic Island and the paired Apple Watch can show glucose values outside the main app. Review Lock Screen, widget, Live Activity and Watch settings to choose where this sensitive information may appear. Only share CSV files or screenshots with people and services you choose.
Subscription and purchases
How does the monthly subscription work?
GlucoLumi has one monthly auto-renewable subscription for new CGM fetching and pen scans, including fresh data for widgets and other displays. Writing already stored records and queues to Apple Health does not require a subscription; active health-data consent and the required Health permissions still apply. The purchase screen shows the current price from your App Store storefront. A seven-day free trial is shown only if Apple returns that offer and confirms your eligibility; a trial is not promised to every customer.
New real-data setup requires verified access: use the separate purchase or restore action, then Continue after verification. There is no generic purchase skip. The separate confirmed demo choice needs no subscription; returning users can use View saved data where offered. A pending, cancelled or unverified purchase does not unlock new-data access. If the product cannot be loaded, check your connection and try again; the app does not substitute a guessed price.
How do I restore or cancel my subscription?
Open Settings β Subscription and choose Restore purchases or Manage subscription. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. Cancellation stops renewal; paid access normally continues until the verified end date. You can also use iPhone Settings β your name β Subscriptions β GlucoLumi. See Apple's cancellation instructions. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
What happens to my data when access ends?
Your saved records are not deleted. Settings, CSV export, deletion, pen history and supported airshot corrections remain accessible. New CGM fetching, new pen scans and publication of fresh readings stop without verified access. A pen scan started with valid access may finish after expiry. Already stored records and queues can still be written to Apple Health with active health-data consent and the required Health permission, without renewing the subscription. Previously stored readings may remain visible on Watch or other surfaces with their original timestamps and freshness limits. This does not mean every widget, overview or display stays unlocked. Restoring a subscription does not restore deleted local health history.
Will TestFlight test purchases charge me?
TestFlight beta: purchases made in TestFlight are test transactions without charges and do not transfer to the App Store version. The normal payment and renewal terms apply to App Store purchases. Beta access and test-renewal timing can differ from production; accelerated test renewals do not describe the production trial period. See Appleβs TestFlight information.
Where do I find purchase terms or request a refund?
See our app terms and the Apple Media Services terms for App Store purchases. Refund requests use Appleβs refund process. Refund eligibility depends on the purchase and applicable law; store procedures do not replace your statutory consumer rights. Contact us if content is missing or the app does not work as described.
Contact support
What should I send to support?
Email hello@torvistudio.com with the issue, app version and iOS version. Prefer demo data and redact names and health information from screenshots. Do not send passwords or access tokens. Support email is handled through Webhuset. If health information is necessary, we first explain what is needed and why and obtain specific explicit consent. Necessary health attachments are removed from the caseβs working copies when it closes; this does not automatically erase provider backups or other email copies. Use demo or redacted material for TestFlight feedback too.
What is included in a diagnostics report?
Apple MetricKit crash, hang and performance reports are stored locally for up to 30 days and 20 reports. These local reports are not uploaded automatically. TestFlight separately provides Apple-collected crash and usage data to the developer automatically. In Settings β Help & About β Technical troubleshooting, you can inspect and delete these reports or manually share a diagnostics file with support. GlucoLumi does not add glucose values, measurement identifiers, account details, email addresses, server addresses, credentials or HealthKit samples to the report, although Apple's payloads may contain technical device and app metadata and call stacks.
This page describes GlucoLumi 1.0 (173), awaiting Apple approval. The available TestFlight build may differ; check TestFlight for current beta availability.
